Jeff Davis Gives Back to the Community
Put Something Back.
Having a license to practice law is a privilege. As part of a lawyer’s responsibilities and professional duties, we owe it to the general public to provide free legal assistance and services to the courts, the educational system and the public. In recognition of this obligation, Jeff Davis provides pro bono service (free of charge) to many clients who call with basic questions and requests for legal opinions.
In a more formal way, Mr. Davis handles more than one dozen guardian ad litem cases per year. Guardian ad litem services are required whenever certain monetary thresholds are reached in settlements involving minors.
Each year, the court appoints Jeff Davis to serve as a guardian ad litem to review a minor settlement or wrongful death settlement to ensure that it is fair and reasonable. Of course, Mr. Davis provides this service free of charge.
In addition, Jeff Davis has had the pleasure of teaching Ms. Espinosa’s Middle school class for Black History Month.
On February 15, 2024 (See photo) Jeff did a PowerPoint presentation on the Supreme Court case of Loving vs. Virginia which declared laws against miscegenation unconstitutional. In addition, Jeff also judged at a “We the People” program and mock trial competition for the Miami-Dade County School system.
These meaningful and beneficial events further the study of civics in our public school systems and provide middle school and high school students with an opportunity to interact with real lawyers and judges from the community to hopefully spark their interest in a civil or criminal justice career.
